No one caresses a note like Kerrianne Cox one of Australia's premier Indigenous artists. She has a voice you'll never forget or want to, and her songs have you tapping your fingers, shouting your joy and jumping to your feet whether you meant to or not. An accomplished songwriter as well, Kerrianne's songs sing from her heart.

Kerrianne Cox won the Ausmusic 1996 "The Next Big Thing Competition" in Western Australia. She was awarded a WAMi (Western Australia Music Inustry) in 1997 as "Best Indigenous Artist Of The Year" and in 2000, NAIDOC's (National Aboriginal Independence Day of Celebration) "Female Artist Of The Year." In 2001 she received the Deadly Vibe Female Artist of the Year given by the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Awards (NAIDOC). 2003 sees her recognized by the Australian government who awarded her the Centenary Medal for service to the country and being nominated for 2003 Deadly Vibe Female Artist of the Year.

The lyrics for her music emerge from her own life experience and include the themes of love, family life and her strong connection to the land. Kerrianne's heritage is an inspiration for her songs as she states "I want to touch people with my songs, not just as an indigenous person, but as a human being."

Kerrianne Cox has steadily built a national profile, performing at such notable events as 2002 Message Stick at the Sorry Day concert at the Sydney Opera House, season 4 of "Outback Upfront" on ABC TV (Sydney), Stompen Ground Festival, the Broome Cabaret production of the acclaimed musical "Bran Nue Dae", the Sydney Survival Concert '97, opening Perth Artrage in '98, the Pacific Circle Music Convention, Corroborree 2000, featured artist at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge attended by over 100,000.

A popular performer on the festival circuit, Kerrianne performs at events such as WOMADelaide 2003, Fairbridge, Cobargo, Adelaide, Tablelands, Woodford, Port Fairy, Brunswick Street, Bridgetown Blues and the Sydney Mardi Gras. In September Kerrianne performed at the Awesome Africa Festival in Durban South Africa and is the subject of a documentary on Dreamtime and trancing with the San Bushmen from the Kalahari in Botswana that will be released in 2004.

Kerrianne regularly conducts workshops teaching songwriting and tradition. She has a relaxed and open attitude to which adults, children, and all ages in between gravitate. Her workshops and performances at the 1998 and 1999 Kungka Conferences held at Uluru were a testament to this natural ability.
