Elle Scott's debut record, Stories From The Treehouse, was worth waiting for. Great songs, amazing band... it sounds like the work of an artist who has already made many albums. That's because the musicians she worked with have made countless records and you can tell in the work of Ben Smith (Heart, The Lovemongers), Don Garberg (Chicago)...and all of these players who brought an obvious respect for the tunes...you can tell it was a blast to work on and people had fun. For Elle Scott it was not only a recording project, it was a way back to and into her craft as an artist.

The record took more than a couple years to get doneâ¦.and there's a lot of variety here because Elle treats each song so completely that each one seems to stand up as both honest and unique...The process was effected by circumstances, Elle has three young children and considers being a mom her most important career...and so it makes sense when someone says it could be an album of greatest hitsâ¦. There was time to polish....Daniel Christopherson, the producer and the man behind the stunning guitars on âStoriesâ, is a stellar producer. He is smart and patient and indescribably devoted. His efforts are strongly apparent in the quality and the believability of this CD. He was able to produce work that represents a credible balance between Elle's sex appeal and honesty and her alluring vulnerability.

It's that vulnerability that stays so sweetly alive in Elle as a person that strikes people who have ever really known her...a surrender to being vulnerable and some unflappable idealism...it can strike folks as a surprise....Elle seems so unflappable herself. She's been told she's really smart...for sure she is a product of an excellent education. Education was both a gift from her parents to their children and an arena in which to serve. They sacrificed and saved and supported...it was a strong ethic and Elle has maintained the same commitment with her own children. She is definitely handy and even knows how to work on computersâ¦.like the hardware partâ¦Elle could likely get a gig as a part of the GeekSquadâ¦..seriously. Regardless...Christophersonâs first comment on Elleâs myspace site mentioned that she always looks like she walked out of a magazine.

Yes, Elle is beautiful and creative and has a one-of-kind yet soooo classy fashion senseâ¦(hate her for her legs that donât end, perfect ass and astonishingly large green eyes!) â¦sheâs both thin and voluptuous which cannot be fair but she pulls it offâ¦. and, this can make some people gag,..she can cook and arrange flowers and she loves sex more than anythingâ¦that and her beautiful family⦠A family that includes an astonishing number of heartbeats... the newest member is her hilarious and acceptionally endearing French Bulldog, Audrey.

There was a person once who heard âGoddess of Mercyâ before it was released and thought Elle was saying that god is a woman. This woman was so upsetâ¦and most likely will not be buying the CD we supposeâ¦And when she heard about it Elle just shook her head and laughed.

âBecause people like that are supposed to focus on the âmercyâ part..right? I mean, good griefâ¦by the way some very credible and well-loved personalitiesâ¦.i.e. Deepak Chopraâ¦.have commented on just such a realityâ¦. The god is woman part. I think I need to thank her for a great Elle Scott t-shirt designâ¦â. (This conversation reminded Elle that she needed a t-shirt design.)

But being a goddess is a big theme for Elle. She is a very grounded woman. And she wants people to be merciful, to be their merciful selves, to fight against evil and sufferingâ¦. If you download just one song today download Goddess of Mercy. It is raw and rookie and touchingly sweet and simple.

As to her own media consumptionâ¦. Elle borrows her sonâs iPod but owns lots of cdâs. She still loves Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Rickie Lee Jonesâ¦.and the summer of love, Train, John Mayer, of course High School Musical (1 & 2) and the recent explosion of new ACDC fansâ¦.right on. She has just recently downloaded Brandi Carlisle's own "Stories", and has bought Spoon, Sugarland and Liz Phairâs latest albumsof the shelves. If she had an older sister she would wish it to be Lucinda Williams or Grace Kelly or maybe Joni Mitchell..â¦â¦.She wants Showtime now. (if you know her you know why). And she really likes to read.

âThe last book I read I read in a day. And it has really had an impact on me. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner), I have to say I learned a lot more than just history and facts and I mean the story is so well-written and so instructive, but what I got most was the love part..the mercy and loveâ¦the real, the bigger pictureâ¦â

She loves to read about anything but Elle wonât talk about herself easily when it comes down to it. Yet she is so adorably honest. She has a lot of hilarious and sad and appalling and painful and beautiful stories to tell about her life and the people she has walked with (her phrase) and things that happen.

Like the time she killed a rattlesnake and still feels guiltyâ¦or when she got lost on a hiking trip with her dad and her brother and sister one long-ago summer visiting in Austriaâ¦(Elle was Moses)â¦or when her brotherâs beautiful wife was inflicted with a rare and frustratingly untreatable form of cancerâ¦.Her kids love them..the stories. Elle talks easily about her kids and her respect for themâ¦As to talking about her own childhood and her own heart?

âI prefer writing the music and when the stories make it out they make it out.â

These days are sunny and wet here in beautiful Seattle, Washington. Lush. People are here or briefly gone or in-between but they are all of them full of oxygen and optimism. I saw Elle Scott play gigs long before anyone ever knew, really, in her world, that she was such a presence. Sheâs leggy and smooth and lovely and worth listening tooâ¦.a starâ¦.The angel kindâ¦. With the heart of a head-banging/folk-singing/guitar playing/pop-princess/rock and roll making sex-goddess⦠of mercy.
