Gagging Lolly

The Beast in the Beauty is Released when the Beauty meets the Philosopher. "Gagging Lolly is a pop electronica based dance music duo with an edge as sharp as a straight razor, bringing to life the lyrical adventures of lead singer Charlie who writes from personal experience on themes that are recognizable and relevant to our audience." Charlie met up with keyboardist DJ Rotten HD when they were formerly members of the group Kelly Greenn. In 2005 they split off from that group to delve into Charlie's trove of lyrics and melodies. When that process became increasingly distended they struck upon their group name when they flipped the term lolly-gagging around. "We like it because it sounds filthy when in reality it means nothing. It's Salaciously Vague!"

Charlie

Charlie is a Southern California native who has been performing since she first put on stilettos, which in her case was about age four. She broke in those golden pipes with a few years in the church choir. A perennial favorite at the school talent show, Charlie had the groupies asking for autographs early on by bringing a forward sense of style and sound to her performances. Always comfortable in the spotlight, she has graced print ads, catalogs, and film in addition to the live stage. Her film appearances include Baywatch, Sex in the City, independent films, and music video with former band Space Monkey Mafia. Other former bands include Ritual Gray, One Vision, Nameless, and Kelly Greenn. Unlike all the other tartlets infesting pop culture these days, Charlie writes all her own lyrics and creates the music either on her own or in collaboration with DJ Rotten HD. She doesn't write it if she didn't live it. Charlie brings life back to nightlife and adds a fresh twist to the normal, humdrum, same ole' Friday night gig.

DJ Rotten HD

DJ Rotten HD is NOT a DJ. The moniker is a proud holdover from his days in Beat Device, which spent the end of the last century in an electronic free for all in which musical forms, idioms, and genres were brutally sodomized in the showers. DJ Rotten HD exists whenever Dan Hurd is engaged in what he considers "mindless dance music," which luckily is something neither of them would ever do. Dan Hurd is a native of Los Angeles' South Bay, where he spent early years in the closet with his accordion and a stack of his Daddy's "Playboys". That atrocious scene was later replaced by piano and then keyboards of all varieties, to which he still has an immodest fixation. As an insatiable fan of music, he's also developed an encyclopedic knowledge of the music of the last 500 years. These dubious traits have been harnessed to secretly power the musical vision of former bands Beat Device, Stall 13, side band Kelly Greenn, and ongoing solo outlet Gruppe 9 5 in addition to Gagging Lolly.
