New Hampshire isnât synonymous with hip-hop music, but when Bugout and Doug York say they want to change that, itâs clear theyâre serious. Together, the two lifelong friends make up the Exeter based hip-hop group Granite State. Be sure you donât get it twisted thoughâthis isnât a pipe dream from some hack kids in the sticks.

The journey to make music almost broke them, but instead of giving up they turned their fight into an impressive musical debut thatâs more likely to break them onto the national hip-hop radar.

Biography

Ten years in the making, Granite State's debut album is more than just the group's first release, itâs their Breaking Point. Coming from two different backgrounds, Doug York & Bugout express two different points of view, yet the same frustrations. The Breaking Point is simply the average blue collar Hip Hop fan's life put to music. It portrays a struggle that every human being can relate to no matter where you're from. Whether it's the mortal contemplation of "Said & Done", settling the score with "My Sweet Revenge", or getting the party going with "What Up B?!", the album represents an America rarely portrayed at all in today's mainstream Hip Hop.

The album is backed by strong production from DC The MIDI Alien (AZ, 7L & Esoteric, Termanology, Akrobatik, Army of the Pharoahs), and Statik Selektah (KRS-One, Nas, AZ, OC, Royce 5' 9"). Granite State's debut album is destined to put NH on the Hip Hop map.

The single "Darker than Blue" has received steady mixtape exposure and airplay across the world, including spins from DJ Premier (NYC), Geespin (WJMN Boston), WERS 88.9 (Boston), Eminem's Sirius Shade 45, and Groove FM (Australia). The follow up single "Gone With The Wind" has been on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hip Hop Nation Top Five Hit List.

The group has rocked dozens of shows across the Northeast, including headlining the bill at numerous sold out venues in New Hampshire, the groupâs home state.
