"Kansasâ, the new single from
singer/songwriter Karen Mosier Nicholson, is a rockinâ country tribute to her home state.

Written and recorded with True North members Brad Henecke, Bob Francella, Sean Eaman and Jake Shimon, this song is road-tested and approved, becoming a fast favorite of audiences.

Nicholson recalls the inspiration for the song: âI remember the day well. I was visiting my folks in Kansas when my friend, David, called. He and his brother had just made a long trek from Colorado to Virginia and had the pleasure of traveling through the fabulous wheat state via 1-70. I knew I was in for an earful; Coloradans love to bemoan trips past the golden wheat fields, rolling hills, and gorgeous sunsets as âlong and boringâ. Some of us know better, though.â

âThe trip would be a lot more fun,â he joked, âif there were billboards every few miles with your sisters on themâ. âYes,â I said, âand the caption could say âNot Everythingâs Flat in Kansasâ!.â It was inevitable that this thought, this idea, would become a song. With the assistance of my sisters, Kristen, Karla and Kayleen, this one did. We all submitted our dearest memories of growing up in Kansas, and they are woven throughout the lyrics of this song.â

âKansasâ is Nicholsonâs sophomore release, following the album âDonât Lookâ. Nicholson spent the last three years writing and touring with True North Rocks.

Now a resident of Colorado, Nicholson was raised in Kansas and is a graduate of Kansas State University.
