Karen Maria's songs are often heartrending, but tempered with with and a wink at the absurdity of the world. In other words, she rocks, a big voice reminiscent of Carole King, Joan Osborne & Pat Benetar.

Re: TOUCH THIS!
WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!
Squishies, this new record is a HUGE step my Darlin'! Wow, the songwriting of course is more mature but your singing is completely blowing my mind Hon. I'm sure your producer was thrilled with the performances in the studio.
I LOVE the single chord strumming pattern on the 2nd song, I don't have the titles in front of me right now, lol.
We Are One is beautiful naturally and your harmonica playing on the songs is great. It's very percussive which is not surprising at all. I have to say though that Song 5, Please, is the brightest spot for me. Your voice, the sound, the emotion, really made me cry with joy Hon, amazing work for real, for real.
I like the percussion parts too, very understated and rhythmic.
What can I say Love? You're my main Squishy inspiration on the planet and I worshipenvyloveadore you forever. I pray to find my voice as you've found yours. I LOVE YOU BABY, G-D BLESS, PEACELOVEMUSICSEX!

hey baby,
got your cd in the mail yesterday. THANK YOU! i'll report more on it later but i listened to it in the car (new preferred listening station) this morning and i think it sounds great. your harmonies are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. REALLY!!!!! like whoa.....your guitar sounds very good, the assorted percussion (i know i heard that triangle in there) all good and the songs also, vulnerable and searching like you always have been. all in all, a great album, maybe even more personal than "only the ocean", although that may not be the right word but maybe you know what i mean. maybe raw is a better word. i look forward to keeping it in the car for a few days (at least) and really getting to know it. good job, schleifoh and congratulations!

Karen Maria's songs are often heartrending, but tempered with wit and a wink at the absurdity of the world. It is her hope to share her experiences with as many people as possible-- to travel the country and exchange, taste, reveal and admire. Or, to use her own words: "I'm living in the quintessential/ and reaching for the optimum/ I never really knew my girth/ until I stretched across the earth/... Onward, all love, no fear."
She has performed such notable venues as the Whiskey A Go Go, The Hotel Cafe, The Derby, 14 Below and Taix Lounge in Los Angeles and Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, The Baggot Inn, Kenny's Castaways, The C-Note, The Duplex, the Alphabet Lounge and Roses Turn in New York City just to name a few.
