Andrius Mamontavos was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1983 he co-founded the Lithuanian supergroup FOJE. Together they released 16 albums during 1983-1997. The band went on to win all the possible music awards in their country. FOJE toured European and American clubs and at the last show climaxing with their very last show in Vilnius, with 60,000 people in the audience. A Box-Office record that holds up to this very moment in Lithuania.

Following the band split, Andrius Mamontovas started his solo carrier. He has been nominated and awarded as the best solo act. Lithuania's version of the Grammy Awards is The BRAVO Awards to date Mamontovas has earned 15 of them for the best song, best album, best show and best act of the year.

Moreover, Andrius Mamontovas acted and wrote soundtracks for several short films and music for the theatre play "Ivanov" by Chekhov (directed by E.Nekrosius) at Teatro Argentina in Rome, Italy.

On May 1st, 2004, Andrius Mamontovas was the main act at the Brandenburg Gate Festival in Berlin, as new member nations joined the European Union.

Several generations grew up with Andrius Manontovas' music. He's acted in movies and shortly thereafter invited to play Hamlet, directed by one of the most important theatre directors in the world today - Eimuntas Nekrosius. Since 1997, the ongoing production with Andrius Mamontovas as Hamlet, continues to tour the world, and has been performed close to 200 times to date.

With the advent of the fall of Soviet Union which led Lithuania to its freedom, walls and borders still exist in the minds of people. The music brings clear messages of peace and awareness of better days ahead.
