ROCK: Folk Rock, ROCK: Arena Rock
Details:
âDrawn andâ¦â is more of a documentary than a collection of songs on a CD. It spans 20 years of this guitarist, singer/songwriterâs career.
Thereâs unreleased material, acoustic versions of previously released material, a remake of a friendâs song as well as a remake of a classic Elton John song.
âHeroâ, written by Darren Johnson and Mark Fahad in 1990 for a band they were in together called Last Train Out . It was eventually released as a hard rock song, in December 2003, on the Omega Train CD âThree Alarm Fireâ. Featuring Darren on vocals and Mark on guitar.
âLevonâ, and acoustic guitar version of an Elton John classic. A different take on a great song.
âRoll On Gypsyâ, the first song Mark ever wrote, it dates back to the spring of 1989 in Promise land, PA. This version is how the song was originally envisioned, acoustic.
Two rock versions of this song have been previously released. One by Omega Train on theâ Three Alarm Fireâ CD, in December 2003, which again featured Darren on Vocals and Mark on guitar. Also, there is a heavy metal version released by The Bone Bros. From the CD âLess=Moreâ, Fall 1991, which featured Mark on both vocals and guitar.
âThank God for youâ, written in the spring of 1990, after an afternoon thunderstorm in New Jersey, a song about friendship.
âWhat I Know Nowâ, written in the fall of 2000, as a letter to my daughter on a cold and lonely night in Gouldsboro, PA.
âBrand New Dayâ, written in the summer of 2000, to heal the tortured heart of a friend.
âLet It Rideâ, written in the summer of 1990. A song about life on the street of a musician struggling to survive.
âA Tear Escapesâ, Iâm not sure when Rick wrote this song for his band Tokyo Pink, but I first heard it at an open-mic night in Rahway New Jersey 1989. It was a slow glam rock song. But the words always rang in my head, so I called Rick and asked if I could âROCKâ up his song and record it. Well, he said, âyesâ, so hereâs my version.
âYouth Grows Oldâ, written in the summer of 1994, during my first trip to Hollywood, CA. It wasnât how I pictured it in my dreams, rock stars and movie stars, it was hookers and addicts. So I grew up quick to realize dreams are only dreams until you open your eyes.
âKillinâ Timeâ, written in the winter of 2003, while staying with a friend in Reederâs, PA.
I spend a few days with a new sequencer and came up with the rhythm. One night after playing a gig with the band Bad Influence, I laid down the guitar track in one take and thatâs what you hear an adlib instrumental. Iâve been told it sounds like âmodern porno musicâ, so I figured Iâd end this CD with a bang. (Sorry about the PUN!!!)
