Mark Shipp is Professor of Old Testament at Austin Graduate School of Theology. He grew up in southern California, Fort Worth, Texas, and Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and was educated at Pepperdine University and Princeton Theological Seminary, where he received the M.Div. and Ph. D. degrees. Mark's musical training includes a minor in music at Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA, and hymnology training at Princeton Theological Seminary. He performed throughout the US with the Pepperdine singing group "Singing Travelers," sang lead roles in "Oklahoma" and in the operetta "The Secret of Susanna," and after college sang with the "Occasional Chorale." Mark has composed since he was 13, and in his 20's his oratorio "Hinds' Feet on High Places," a collaboration with Jerry Shipp, Jon Vieker, and Rachel McInturff, was performed several times in Malibu, CA, with Giorgio Tozzi ("South Pacific") and John Payne ("Miracle on 34th Street") narrating. "Hinds' Feet" is scheduled to reprise in Austin, Texas in March 2008, after editing by Dr. Rachel McInturff of the Armstrong Music School of Austin Lyric Opera. He has two CDs in the "Christian/folk/classical" genre, "Passages" and "NFKM." Mark is currently working on the very first, to his knowledge, Metrical Psalter/Commentary" on the book of Psalms.
