PARABLE OBSCURA
This is a journey in music from the temples of India, to the Oceans which surround her. Think of it as soundtrack for your mind. Close your eyes and let the music tell you the story. The words below were only what we were seeing when composing. You may see something entirely different.

In Temple: A woman chants her worship amidst the presence of meditation bells, and the album starts our journey outward to an inward place. A lone violin plays a melancholy melody as we leave the temple, heading out over the lush countryside; this beginning of our mystical journey to solve the Parable Obscura, the hidden teaching. The rythym of life sustains us as we travel among rice fields, exotic birds, and dense tropical rains. Always alone and continuously in awe, we travel.
Parable Obscura: Great meanings come to us as we trek the high mountains to the retreats there. Our own suffering as we walk the steep trail to enlightenment teaches us humility in a myriad of small ways. We gain strength and resolve as we see the sun setting, for it means darkness and sweet rest. Our lives flash back and forth through childhood and death and all that in between. Smiling faces come and leave us in our dreams. Only thirst remains.
World Fog: We look down from this high place and see only the fog of clouds. We call it the world fog for it stretches as far as we can see. All the world is wrapped in this blanket and we want to stand and gaze, but the trail awaits and rain comes quickly to block us.
In The Heart Of Things: We find a village at the top of the world. A small collective of families living on the edge of the world, on the edge of poverty, and literally at the edge of civilization. Yet this little village is thick with life and love, sickness and health. We are at the heart of the village, staying in a type of three walled lean to. The whole of village life lays itself out for us and we see the Parable Obscura, the hidden teaching, and it brings us joy as we watch.
From The Source: An elder takes us to a small grotto where he worships. It is a small pool of water, yet looking past it, we see it lead to a river. He points at a distant set of waterfalls and he tells us that they come from this pool. Great things in small beginnings.
Understanding: We are exhausted after a further climb to the monastery only to discover it has been abandoned; its inhabitants forced out through warfare. We think of the constant pain in our sides and how we only want relief from the exhaustion. And then the understanding comes. Our exhaustion is the gateway to ourselves. It was not the monastery we were after, but the trail itself.
Mercies: For us now, there is only the downward trek on the leeward side of the mountain. We are heading in to the valleys we had come through earlier by car. As we descend, the humidity thickens and we become a slow moving ball of sweat and pain. But we trek on.
In Paradise: We come to a small plateau on the side of the mountain and we rest there for several days, reluctant to continue, reluctant to leave. It is a lush, exotic place; truly paradise.
In The Mists Of Time: We leave finally, our little paradise and come through several villages until we arrive at an abandoned temple at the edge of a lake. We are still in the thick of the jungle and we see no way out. However, our trusty guides show us a trail leading to the sea, he says. We follow, knowing that going down is better than up. We walk steadily through the day and arrive at sunset on a rocky outcropping at the edge of the sea.
We are told that this is where the original monastery's inhabitants fled to when war invaded their humble lives. We are welcomed, fed and bedded. The Parable Obscura has been answered, shown, and comfirmed in our travels. It is what we suspected, love for one another.
