METAL/PUNK: Death Metal, METAL/PUNK: Doom/Stoner Metal
Details:
My Silent Wake is following up their critically acclaimed debut "Shadow of Sorrow" with an ambitious 2-disc album the likes of which has not been seen in the metal market. The first disc in the 2-album set demonstrates the evolution of the My Silent Wake death / doom sound with HUGE guitars, long, epic songs, and Ian Arkley's trademark mix of growls and singing. Every aspect of this disc is bigger than Shadow of Sorrow, and those of you who loved the debut are going to freak when you hear Disc 1 of The Anatomy of Melancholy. Disc 2 sees My Silent Wake going mostly unplugged and exploring more of an acoustic, gothic, atmospheric medieval sound. The last song on Disc 2 is a different version of the last song on Disc 1, but the remaining acoustic songs are brand new compositions. A huge variety of instruments are played, and the ethereal atmosphere created by these songs complements the monster sound of the metal songs perfectly. A 2-disc set from a metal band that features 2 contrasting styles is literally unheard of, and even more unheard of is when a band can play 2 contrasting styles this well. Disc 1 of this amazing 2-disc set will appeal to fans of My Dying Bride, Candlemass, and lovers of death and doom, and Disc 2 will appeal to those who enjoy acoustic gothic compositions a la Dead Can Dance.
