February 1997 "It was wonderful to hear and record my first hermit thrush, sage sparrow, house wren, Prairie falcon, Brewer's sparrow, chukar and California quail. One of my richest memories occurred early in spring, recording western grebe at Salmon Arm Bay, while they performed their elaborate courting ritual dance on the surface of the water. The Okanagan is truly a special place for bird species."

John Neville (The Birdsong Man) is the nature recordist. The birdsong recordings are done on location with birds in their natural habitat using a Telinga Pro V1 stereo microphone and Marantz PMD 650 MiniDisc recorder.
My mission is to present Bird Songs in a way that people can learn about birds and enjoy the outdoors. Ultimately the birds' habitat will be better protected.
