I was born in San Francisco and raised in Berkeley a generation into the free speech movement. Now I'm out in Brooklyn after living in Bologna, Italy, Oakland, CA and Tivoli, NY for the last six years. I put this collection of songs together in the summer of 2007 with the help of my friend and producer, Yair Evnine, in a purely bi-coastal a efort.

The album, Bay to Maples, is the chronicle of my move from the East Bay to New York State in 2003. My grandfather first brought his family from the Bay to the maple trees of New Yorkâs Catskill Mountains more than a half a century ago, since then the journey has become an heirloom passed on to my parents, uncles, cousins and brothers. I made my home in Tivoli, NY, just across the Hudson River from the Catskills. That's where I dug in and wrote the songs on the album, holed up out of the cold.

After playing solo gigs around the northeast, California and Italy for a few years Iâm getting back on the road with Yair on bass and cello and Philipp Gutbrod on drums. Iâll be making as many trips as possible between the bay and maple trees in the coming years and flying back over the ocean as soon as I get a chance.
