"Invitation: A marvelous debut disc, revealing a seasoned singer & multi-instrumentalist named Pattie Cossentino. Here's YOUR invitation to discover a worthy artist you'll want to hear more from!" Greg Lee Jazz-89 WMOT, Nashville
Nashville based saxophonist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist, Pattie Cossentino is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She received her early piano training and started performing piano recitals at the Peabody Conservatory of Music by age 7. Pattie earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, where she was a CAPA scholar. She also completed graduate studies at the University of North Texas and was selected as a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Music Society for her outstanding work at North Texas.
Pattie competed in several regional and national competitions winning First Place in the Baltimore Music Club Competition, First Place in The University of Maryland Undergraduate Solo Competition and was a finalist in the Baltimore Symphony Young Soloists Competition as an alto saxophonist. She has also been a featured saxophone soloist with The First United Church of Christ Concert Series, Music Teachers National Association, American Guild of Organists, Reading-Berks Conference of Churches, The Ringgold Band (the oldest concert band in the U.S.), and the Middle Tennessee Young Artist Solo Competition at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University.
Before moving to Nashville, she was a regular performer with the Berks Jazz Orchestra and the Reading Civic Opera Orchestra in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she played woodwinds for all the Broadway shows that came through the area. An accomplished pianist/organist, she had also served both as Minister of Music and organist at several churches in the Reading area. Additionally, Pattie was saxophone instructor at Albright College also in Reading.
Pattie has performed with Al Vizutti, Randy Brecker, Steve Houghton and Chris Vadala. While her jazz quartet is a main stay on the local jazz scene in Nashville, she has also performed locally with The Tennessee Jazz Orchestra, The Nashville Palace Band, "Live in Studio C" on WPLN Radio, The Bo Thorpe Orchestra, The Sumner County Symphony as a flutist, and on the General Jackson Showboat. During the 2003 season, Pattie was a featured saxophone/clarinet soloist with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. She can also be seen singing and playing sax with the Nashville based Radio Daze Big Band.
In demand as a studio musician, her quartet is regularly featured at many jazz festivals and concerts throughout the southeast. Performing the best of many jazz standards, she also adds her special touch with original composition, as well as her unique vocal styling--special music for special events is her specialty.
