"The hushed and utterly beautiful music of Relative Sight is immediately intoxicating and winning. Consisting of guitarist Heidi Palalay and cellist Janet Taggart, both of whom share vocal duties, the duo plays some of the sweetest, most hypnotic music you'll hear.
Whether it's just the two of them quietly making their way through contemplative tunes like "Dark Ages" or if there's a full band hammering through driving numbers like "Break the Cycle," Taggart and Palalay bring sophistication and grace to the music. Other than their outstanding originals, particularly Taggart's "Crumtown" and Palalay's "Tell Me Rosa," there are some well-chosen covers-the most notable one being a perfectly intimate take on Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love."
--Clay Steakley, Performing Songwriter Magazine, June 2003
A finalist in the Lilith Fair Talent Search and in the Unisong Songwriting Competition, Relative Sight is an acoustic duo that combines the talents of Heidi Palalay (guitar, oboe, piano and vocals) and Janet Taggart (vocals, cello, piano and guitar). These two classically trained musicians met as roommates while attending Baltimore's famed Peabody Conservatory of Music. Blending the technical, crystal clarity of their classical training with the immediacy and presence of the folk tradition, an evening with Relative Sight amounts to a nonstop flight through the highest levels of acoustic atmosphere.
"It's just my observation that Janet and Heidi bring something to the singer-songwriter realm that I get to experience all too rarely. Their high level of discipline really shines through, and their performance moved me on so many levels. It's just great to hear music that's so well conceived and articulated." --Dave Carter
