Biography

I was born in Salzburg Austria and started making music at the age of ten, joining a school with main focus music. There I experienced first professional education in choir singing and classical guitar and also the first regular public gigs. In the age of thirteen I participated on an extra curricular course called Band workshop where I touched the bass guitar for the first time and stayed with it straight away. This band started to perform the Gigs in and outside the school environment.
Two years later I took the bass as a profession and started playing with different bands, mostly rock at this time and continued getting tutorials from well know local tutors.
Three years later the jazz caught me and I started playing the upright bass. Later I got into teaching and achieved a position as a bass and ensemble tutor on the Mega Music School for Modern Music. I already did first jazz gigs and even played a summer with the Bad Reichenhall Symphony Orchestra. Hence I continued Classic Music education and participated on several projects on The Mozarteum Academy of Music in Salzburg, such as Continuum (Wolfgang Zamastilâs Tango Nuevo). My appearance on stage varied very much in style from Rock to Funk and Jazz, Big Band and as mentioned Classic (very frequently though). I love variety and challenge in different music styles and try to perform them all regularly.
Later I toured with an Irish Folk Rock band for about three years around Europe. Then I decided to leave Austria and moved to Berlin in Germany. Quick I got into the local music scene again and performed again in different genres from Jazz to Funk and Rock, Spanish and lots of Brazilian Music. I managed to grab a teaching gig on the Noisy Academy and stayed until I had to move again and came to London England.

Here I completed a BA (Hons) degree in Bass at the Academy of Contemporary Music. Since I am in London I worked as a session musician for different Jazz bands such as the London Jazz Collective, Small Group Jazz, 70âs Funk, Rock Bands, played Shows such as West Ends Dirty Dancing, Bad Girls the Musical in Leeds, Little Shop of Horror in London, Cinderella in South Hampton, Cabarets, Function Bands etcâ¦
What I love to do is playing bass, every day if possible (and live). The second big devotion is arranging for ensembles. Particularly horn arrangements caught my fascination. In 2007, the first solo EP has been realized called Panakotta and it shows the love for arranging. Unlike usual Bass Playerâs records, there is not a single bass solo on it. Horns can do it so nicely, so why interfere with them. The aim was the whole picture to get a real funky CD. Beside the active side of musicianship, I like to teach and communicate, and discuss my experiences. I was right from the start with all my heart and soul into Music and it hasnât changed until today.
