Ryan and the Lions features Ryan Langlois and an ever changing line up of musicians who come together in various combinations to perform and record Langlois' songs.

The debut Ryan and the Lions album was recorded in Galway, Ireland at The Forge Recording Studio in May 2007, and features musicians from around the world; Ireland, Germany, Australia, Canada and the States.

The recording process was key in creating the incredible energy and spirit in the music. The songs were all performed live in the studio, giving the album a raw and natural feel. Just a group of friends, sandwiches, beer, and a pile of instruments. Everything from harmonica, bazooki, guitar and cell phone feedback to 12-person sing alongs, distorted fiddles , broken radios, and pots and pans!

Songs about eggs and getting older ("Sunny Side Up") 3 a.m. walks home through the Galway streets ("Waits and other cartoons") and swimming across the Alantic ("October Nights"). From upbeat folk and bluegrass tunes to heavy rock tracks , while still maintaining a natural progression between genres.

Although the idea for Ryan and the Lions was created in Austin Texas, September 2006, the band mainly began to take shape in Galway, Ireland in January 2007 shortly after Langlois arrived overseas. In Galway, Langlois completed a degree in English Writing and Rhetoric at The National University of Ireland and jumped right into the local music scene. He quickly became a familiar face around town playing with several artists including No Banjo, x-Klima, The Red Rose Cafe, the NUIG Traditional Irish Music Society and Emily Mure. By meeting so many faces in Galway and collaborating with so many different musicians, Langlois was able to put together an incredible band to record the album.
