Selena Mars is a multi-talented artist, an accomplished actress, model and singer who is now expanding her already impressive CV to include songwriter. This is no vacuous claim as Mars (who calls both London and New York City home), lets rip on her first solo project. Her distinctly sultry, raspy voice and introspective lyrics have her poised to make a startling impact on the indie/alternative scene on both sides of the Atlantic in 2007. Phil Strongman, (Mojo/Hi-Fi Choice Magazine) says that Mars; "is one of the few artists operating today whose songs create a complete world of their own."

In her own words Selena "knows her onions" when it comes to music and there can be few to doubt her. She's been featured on tracks by various artists including Talvin Singh (best known for his work with Madonna and Bjork), and En Ecsh of KMFDM. She has worked with a few producers like Chris Flam (Public Enemy, Korn) for Rawkus Records, and more recently Derek O'Brien (Social Distortion), and has also offered tour support opening for various RCA recording artists like Lisa Loeb.

These songs are a from her debut EP 'Empty' produced with Alex Elena (Alice Smith). Her influences include Bowie, Massive Attack, Bjork, Nina Simone, Radiohead and the Pixies to include a few. Mars' lyrics are very powerful drawn from experiences both happy and less so. The music is a blend of retro rock, catchy pop hooks, even jazz. "I won't be put into any boxes!" Selena says. "I'm much better at doing my own thing than trying to conform. At the end of the day I have to be true to myself."
