Details:
Mountain climber, lover of starlight, sunlight, and great distances turns to singing
and song writing to tell the world about what he believes really matters. Seeker of rough terrain, mountain peaks and far away places, also explores the terrain of the human heart. It's challenges, mysteries, and deepest longings. Writing and singing
about adventure, romance, faith, secrets, love, wildness, wonder and the mystery
of it all. While looking out over great distances. Is a work in progress, as is the life
of this singer/song writer.
With my guitar as my companion for the greater part of three decades, I have
attempted to play it to the tune of what can be heard above 4000 feet. Where
the insanity of our culture is as distant as a dream. It is there dreams can take to flight. Where new ideas are born, where the pure experience of being in the
wilds can be renewing even transformative. Where the heart is filled with a careless wonder for all that can be heard up close as well as seen hundreds of miles away! As a former member of a local rock band. I have been blessed to have worked
with some very talented people. On my own I've come to realize that the process
of song writing as well as the pathway of living every day is ever deepening. If one
is receptive to the guidance being offered. For the process of songwriting (and performing)
as well as the daring and hardships involved in mountain climbing is an adventure
and a quest not for the faint hearted. To find that kernel of beauty and truth all wrapped
up in a song to sing it in front of hundreds of people, to walk up to the edge of a cliff
or atop a mountain peak looking at a red tail hawk land on a branch above one head
While over looking a shear face drop of several thousand feet among other scenic wonders
is as awe inspiring as anything one can imagine. These are thing I've often approach with trepidation. But when all is said and done always with gratitude and exhilaration. I am also grateful to so many other songwriters and singers living and writing on the edge. For those people have opened up the eyes and ears of so many of us and have shared their adventures as well as others experiences of living and making life ever more meaningful. The telling or singing of stories of love, joy, pain, sorrow, triumph, tragedy, loss, betrayal, redemption through song writers such as Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Springsteen, Simon and Garfunkle, David Mallett, Neil Young, John Denver, to name a few have opened my eyes and ears and influenced me in more ways than all the fools and philosophers I've had the pleasure and pain of having to have listened to.
So in this illusive quest for this illusive diamond/daimon lying in the deeps, on the
edges of cliffs, in the heart of hearts, mountain climbing, song writing and living
life with passion for me at least may not be all that different.
