Straight from the heart of chicago's south-east side comes the latest edition to the windy city's rap scene, Skwod Deep. What started out as a mere group of friends has now turned into a young group of hit making entrepreneurs with un-mistakable chemistry. These hit makers go by the name of Skwod Deep. Skwod Deep officially became who they are today in the summer of 04. After graduating from Kenwood High School, rapper/producer Jae Oneder took his love for the music to the next level and on the road. Oneder left Chicago and ventured to Minnesota to create music with the missing Skwod Deep link AO. The two put out a classic mixtape under the alias Midway and pushed it all through the streets of Minneapolis & St. Paul, Minnesota, but they weren't the only ones at work. While still in the Chi, Ka'ron began to enhance his skills as a performing artist and writer. After doing numerous educational shows at local High Schools with the University of Hip- hop, and being in multiple battles, Ka'ron caught the ear of many Chi- town artist, but declined to join any camps while waiting for his chance to link up with his long time friend. When Jae Oneder returned winter 05, the two began to put together their first project. By the spring, their ball was finally rolling. The return of AO is what started the beginning of forever. After doing multiple free shows, the group, along with the Skwod Deep Family, finally decided to start themselves an independent record label called Skwod Deep Productions. SDP got off to rocky start though, with money troubles, lack of industry knowledge as well as artist problems but they never let anything stop theyâre dream. After trimming the group down from 5 (Jae Oneder, Kaâron, & A.O., Onis, Pheel) to 4 (Jae Oneder, Kaâron, & A.O., Onis) then from 4 to 2 after Onis' decision to pursue a career as a barber & A.O.âs move to Minnesota, Jae Oneder & Kaâron took it upon themselves to keep it moving. Performances at Chicagoâs Bud Bilikin Parade and the Crocodile Lounge as well as many others in 2006 are proof of Skwod Deepâs ability to perform under pressure no matter the circumstance. More focused than ever 2007 looks to be a good year for the Skwod and SDP as they continue to move forward towards their dream. âAs long as Kaâron picks up where I slack and I pick up where he slacks we can never fall off â Jae Oneder says. With the release of a few hot singles like "I Aint Going," âWhipped up a Watch,â âDollar Circulateâ and âWaitingâ ,the help from Co-CEO/Acting Manager Mike "Mittens" Smith, and the anticipation for their debut album starting to build, It looks like teamwork is the key to all of Skwod Deepâs success.
