ABOUT THE CD, "OUTTA SCHOOL!"

OUTTA SCHOOL! is the second release by award-winning childrenâs musician, Steve Blunt. The CDâs mostly humorous tunes loosely follow the chronological pattern of the school calendar, with âBack to Schoolâ near the beginning and âSummer Vacationâ close to the endâhence the titleâbut the majority of songs are simply lots of fun, any time of year.

Many musical styles are represented, from the Dixieland/swing-influenced âMonkey, Monkey!â (about the adventures of a little girl and the monkey she liberates from its cage at the zoo) to the old-school ska beat of âToo Many People in a Little Houseâ (composed when Steve was still in schoolâ¦all those years ago). A number of original tunes pay tribute to classic sounds of the 50âs and 60âs; one such track is âReading Road Trip, USA,â commissioned as the official theme song for the New Hampshire State Libraryâs 2007 Summer Reading Program. Also included are standards that have become favorites at Steveâs popular live shows: âYou Are My Sunshine,â âFanga Alafea/Liza Jane,â and others. ABOUT THE ARTIST...Steve Blunt (www.steveblunt.com)

Steve Blunt is a musician and storyteller with over 20 years' experience in the arts and education. With an MA from Teachers College-Columbia University, Steve taught middle school English for 9 years before choosing a full-time career in children's music.

Recognized as an educational and entertaining performer, Steve has been selected 6 times as a roster artist for the New Hampshire State Library's "Kids, Books, and the Arts" Program. His CD, Hang On, Henry!, won a Parents' Choice "Approved" Award (Summer, 2003) and is popular with kids and grown-ups alike.

Currently, Steve teaches music part-time at Rivier College's Early Childhood Center and elsewhere. He also volunteers for the youth music program at First Church (UCC) in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he resides with his wife, daughter, and two English springer spaniels.
