Description:
For fans of synthpop and electronic music. Debut album influenced by synthesizer artists such as Thomas Dolby, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. Innovative mixture of pop/atmospheric/electronic music with a dash of sci-fi
14 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Synthpop, ELECTRONIC: Techno
Details:
Following in the footsteps of synth/electronic music artists such as Kraftwerk, Thomas Dolby, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, and Camoflauge, this is the impressive debut release from Synth Groove.
Synth Groove is actually Bob Salvati, who wrote, performed and produced the 14 songs on this CD-R, which clocks in at over 72 minutes. This is a true, 100 electronic music album done entirely with synthesizers, including many vintage analog synths which gives the album a warm and organic quality.
Stylistically, the songs range from electronica to dance to pop. The album opens with the apocalyptic instrumental âFace of the futureâ and it only gets better from there. âLarger than lifeâ has a larger than life catchy chorus and when the next track, âSilent movie starsâ begins, you know youâre listening to something very cool. One of the standout tracks, this song uses swirling synths and a haunting melody to create an atmospheric gem. âTherapyâ is classic 80's synthpop and âRoboter boyâ is done in true Kraftwerk-like fashion. âThis Radio actionâ is a cranker and âMy Sister loveâ is more synthpop. The nearly seven minute âDo aliens dream in colorâ, is reminiscent of Tangerine Dream at their most ambient. Despite its title, âVery strangeâ is a very catchy pop song. The strangest track, âThief in the nightâ, is both menacing and melodic. When the drum beat kicks in on the âCybornautsâ, youâll think youâre hearing a sci-fi song that perhaps Thomas Dolby or an early Gary Numan might have done. âJupiter 19â, with itâs synth hook and changing soundscapes is possibly the best of the four instrumentals. The synth bass pounding âWatching the carsâ will instantly have you looking for the dance floor and for the albumâs closer, âElectrical stormsâ, Synth Groove may have saved the best song for last.
