Just what the name says. 3 genres of jazz all rolled into one. Ragtime, dixieland, & traditional jazz.
9 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Dixieland, JAZZ: New Orleans Brass Band
Details:
Exactly what the name implies. The band plays a style that incorporates Ragtime, Dixieland, and Jazz music all into one. Band members Bob Richer, Gordy "T-Bone" Taylor, and Denny Blankenship, team together to write some of the most interesting originals to embellish the traditional Jazz genre. Their CD "Doc's Night Out" written in honor of the owner (also the bands drummer) of the coolest tavern in Washington State is upbeat from track #1 to track #8. Plain and simple it's a very happy album. Designed to make the buyer feel happy and relaxed. Something we all need in this day in age.
The writing team has done away with the traditional clarinet, and replaced it with a 2nd trumpet. The result is phenominal. It creates a chordal brass choir that is extremely pleasant even to the most discerning ear. Soloists Denny Blankenship (trumpet) and Gordy "T-Bone" Taylor (Trombone) don't let their section mates get away with anything, creating nice improvised lines that interlace beautifully with smooth, flowing chord movements.
If the listener doesn't know what a wooden nickel is, track #4 (4 wooden nickels) explains that they are credits that patrons can exchange for beer. Track #6 OOP'S has a very true to life ring to the lyrics. T-Bone does a nice job of putting all the lead solo singing into it's proper form and feel. One CD owner excitedly said, "I really, really love this album, it keeps me company no matter what I'm doing!".
