The Cool is a high energy pop-rock band that has been consistently delighting audiences in the coastal southeast for over a decade. Though fans will quickly assert that the band is, indeed, very cool, the bandâs name is really not some sort of pompous self serving proclamation but rather simply derived from its founderâs actual name, Bill Cool. Attributing to their success is the fact that The Cool features two fine female vocal artists, Fiona Phillips and Christi Smoak. Along with their exceptional vocal abilities, both of these ladies are also distinctly accomplished musicians playing keyboards, percussion, and acoustic guitar. The band is rounded out by Bill Cool on guitars and vocals, Robbie Bendel on bass and KC Hazelwood on drums and percussion.
Though The Cool is most often described as being pop-rock, they will quickly tell you that they prefer not to be âpigeon holedâ Each member brings to the band a very different set of background and influences. Therefore, their material is quite diverse and not really restricted to any one genre. Their long awaited debut album, âClimate Controlâ on National Records is a 10 song offering of original material along with a unique cover of a Neil Young classic. âClimate Controlâsâ collection of songs is diverse, ranging from 4-part acapella swing to in-your-face rock & roll.
