the world has appeared on several âbest of Irish musicâ compilation albums on the Danceline and Futuresque independent labels. Previously known as League of Decency and Rapid the band has emerged as one of the most popular downloads from myspace.com and numberonemusic.com. The band was featured heavily on Garageband.com with âCome to Meâ which was taken off a debut album entitled âMemorise and Destroy.â Later the world became one of the hottest MP3 downloaded bands on MP3.COM. Now on the Heinous Crimes independent label the band is attracting more attention for the new EP entitled âKiks with Chixâ. The EP contains two other killer tracks, âJailbirdâ and a new version of âUltraloveâ. Which already trebles the amount of decent songs on the average album.

The world has featured extensively on local radio and on Internet radio. At one stage the band was played in heavy rotation on Atlantic 252, which had a European audience of several hundred thousand. The world is a four piece outfit based in Dublin comprising of bass player Keith McBain, drummer Anthony DâArcy, Cyril Byrne on percussion and singer/guitarist fran. âWeâve worked extremely hard,â said fran. âWe took on dozens of free gigs to get our name out there and become known. The EP is starting to pay dividends now and has become popular on college and local radio. The next step is to get it national and on day time radio.â

the world was once voted most promising new act by the European Music Journalists Association, âwe didnât even have to pay them off,â said fran. the world won the Guinness Battle of the Bands competition in 1998 (as League of Decency). They played at the music fair in summer 2001, organised by Factory Records (UK). The world have a blistering new live set and have recently completed a residency at a large venue in Dublin, playing to 200 people.
