Outlaw Country
9 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Outlaw Country, COUNTRY: Traditional Country
Details:
Von Cotton was formed when Bakersfield boy Brant Cotton hooked up with Miami native Tom Martin on the set of the feature film Marines. Inspired by the film's biopic of war-torn Eastern Europe, Brant and Tom wrote and recorded the song Don't Ask while in Bulgaria. They put a copy in the hands of the director and producers, who were instantly sold on its haunting melody and lyrics and decided to put it in the film.
Von Cotton has since penned two other songs included in current films. One of them, Johnnie Walker, was picked up by several country music stations.
The boys immersed themselves in the Los Angeles country music scene and began playing regularly at such notorious venues as BB King's, Borderline, and Molly Malones along with other local venues that are not considered to be country establishments. Von Cotton began collecting a loyal following and caught the ear of an entertainment production company and was asked to play for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Currently the five-member band is led by the strong-arm vocals of Brant Cotton, backed by the rhythmic muscle of Hanford Pittman(Yucaipa, Ca) on bass and Seattle-raised, jazz trained percussionist Jimmie Acre while Scott Feldman(Long Island, NY) massages your ears touching the ivory, and Ohio native John Bowdler lends his rich, dark lead guitar sound.
