Details:
Zepubicle is Punky. Arty. Doomy. Trancey. Folky. Scrapey. Noisy. Pushy. Pully. Southy. Worldwise. Undercomfortable corners, a series of postcards from distant times and places, narrower and wider in scope than your everyday group recording. There are numerous and wonderfully supportive glitches that enhance the Technicolor antiqueness of it all. Listen as you would to a dribbling brook or crushing whirlpool. The music hovers at devastatingly quiet with the odd intrusion of, whatâs that, yes, saturation through volume, restoring at last the much-missed art of dynamic range. Scientists Levitate Small Animals, on Solponticello Records, is our first official release after several years of ferment. Beautifully recorded by sound mind Tom Lewis live before an audience at Mercury Art Works gallery in Athens, Georgia, December 2006; mixed and mastered by Killick. Join us and celebrate.

Zepubicle is made up of these interesting people:

Killick of Athens, Georgia recontextualizes and lays bare the joyous friction of composition/improvisation, hi-fi/no-fi, academic/popular, good/bad/indifferent, groove/chance, intentional/inevitable, controlling chaos and chaos-ing control with precision abandon whilst exorcising
exercises in favor of substantial contributions to the aural landscape. Killick is best known as a performer on his sympathetic stringed H'arpeggione, which he plays here with Appalachian Trance Metal aplomb.

Marshall Marrotte of Atlanta, Georgia is an improvising musician, amateur musicologist and sonic contortionist. He performs as often as possible with an assortment of fellow raconteurs and charlatans. On this recording, Marshall plays baritone and âclassicâ guitars, revering and reinterpreting everything from New Orleans funk to art-rock missives, straddling the complete breakdown of the musical multiverse.

Jeff McLeod of Montgomery, Alabama is a multi-multi-instrumentalist and musical mayhemist making noise and soothing wounds with whatever he can get his hands on. Over the past 15 years he has toured, composed and worked with countless like-minded freakazoids all over the skin of the good Earth. Jeff performs here on guitar and Chapman Stick with the distinction of very un-Stick-like execution. Drones, hot licks, and stutters dance with unabashed love for the Devil's chord.

Tatsuya Nakatani of Easton, Pennsylvania is our special guest for the set, making a trio a true quartet. Originally from Osaka, Japan, Tatsuya brings his incredible depth and simpatico to Zepubicle. He is a truly a master musician, utilizing conventional percussion towards an idiosyncratic and complete soundscape. Tatsuyaâs control and restraint entangles tension and release, soaring above and below the music with beautiful form.
