Born in Chicago, IL Atasi Mukherjee the oldest among 4 siblings was brought up to musical parents father a singer and organ player mother singer. I started singing at the age of 4 when the family decided to move to Northern California. Music was a 24/7 thing for the Mukherjee family. Wherever it be whether at home or in the car music played nearly 24 hours seven days a week. At the age of ten I started to listen to rock music which my parents were unaware of. By eleven I was writing and composing songs. At the age of 12 I started to bring in neighborhood kids and we would jam at my parentâs house while parents were working. This is when I first picked up an acoustic guitar. We would do jam sessions for fun and I would entertain the neighborhood kids. I completed 8th grade then we moved to New Jersey for a year where I attended North Bergen High School for freshman year. There I continued to explore further musical avenues almost every weekend I would frequent New York City along with a Chinese girlfriend from high school. She and I then took on my first job as taking a paper route delivery and the very first item I bought was a v-neck pink sweater that my girlfriend and I were very excited about. Frequently on Bergen Line Ave. I would shop often. Madonna was then just getting her name out and singing near the clubs near by. Then at 15 I moved to Ft. Worth Texas where I attended high school in two different schools later moving to Arlington Texas ended up graduating from Kennedale High school. Kennedale was a very small town consisted around 1500 people in the town of Kennedale, Texas. Everyone knew each other. I became very active being part of several clubs, pep squad cheerleader, assisted in Homecoming and being a part of our Prom committee. I sacrificed my lunch hour between once to twice a week and continued to sing solo throughout High school. After graduating High school the very next day we moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where my father was working as a Civil Engineer and we ended up staying there 6 months. From exploring Tenn. I made a some college friends then ended up moving to Naperville, IL. I ended up getting a job at Mobil in 1989where I was introduced to a pal and I was introduced to all of the Chicago Area rock and roll venues and clubs after my experience at The Thirsty Whale I absolutely wanted rock and roll to be a part of my life and wanted to do this for a living, and since then have seen over 1,500 live bands to date. I ended up residing in IL since then and finished up by attending College of DuPage then attended University of IL for 3 years and ended up getting my Bachelor of Arts Degree from an University near the suburbs. I did a lot of my best song writing working for a luxury car dealership which I was employed for them over 4 years and had a manager that understood my need to be an artist and I was in full control and very often sang for the shop many a nights a week at the car dealership. I was the Service Receptionist working till 8 pm. Most nights I did a lot of songwriting mostly in the evenings. At that place alone over the four years I had written several songs. By early 2003 I recorded my album for âAtasiâ and came up with 4 original songs that were recorded between 2003 to 2004. Works include âJoeyâ, âItâs All About the Beerâ, â Carolina Babyâ, and âSeptember Bluesâ. All my work to date has been recorded in a friendâs home recording studio. âJoeyâ and âItâs all about the Beerâ have been released as a two song sampler in July 2007. I currently have plans to release a four song demo in near future. I just need to master record the songs and the album is ready for distribution.
