WELCOME TO BASSHEADDE

Bassheadde music is created using a wide variety of analog and digital hardware. Samples and software are seldom used, if ever. With a collection of vintage synth's and drum machines filling several rooms at Simplistiks Studios, Bassheadde beleives the more gear the bigger the sound. A purist in electronic arts, Bassheadde would prefer all music to end up on records, but alas as times change the need to release his work in a digital world has come to be.

THE MISSION

The Simplistiks team takes its work anywhere they can any chance they get. Simplistiks has experience with a wide variety of venues including clubs, galleries, art installations, theater accompaniment, various events, fashion shows, festivals and even renegade projections out of cars onto buildings.

We strive to create a connection between the audio, video and the audience to raise the overall level of consciousness. We embrace the power we have as A/V artists to create change and influence.

Taking a revolutionary approach, we portray a poignant message in every performance, the video is always storyboarded and narrative to the music. In addition, the vibe at the event reflects into our work and energizes the flow of creativity.

THE WEAPON

The Simplistiks studio consists of a multi-room setup which includes several computer systems (Mac and PC), audio hardware, keyboards, drum machines, samplers, camcorders, hardware video mixers and source decks (VHS, DVD, SVHS and D8), mic booth and theater viewing area with a surround sound mixing room. All original music is created on hardware and for DJ-VJ mixes records are used. For both the audio and video, effects and mixdowns are done in a real-time linear fashion. We use video software for editing and preparing content and audio software for recording, editing, and mastering.

THE VISION

With a strong involvement in the underground rave scene and electronic music culture our team began to move forward. At the start of Simplistiks Visuals, VJ culture in the Midwestern states and in many cities in the US had not yet been developed, nor were there specific Audio/Visual tools available. This form of communication was in its pioneering stage, mainly only found at underground events, and added images and atmosphere to DJ sets at parties. With the slow down in large-scale electronic music events there became a void in performance opportunities. A realization that there needed to be a new platform or venue to express visual work and A/V sets became apparent. With only time to focus on the future, Simplistiks co-founded AVIT North America, determined to further the culture we had become a part of.
