David Barr was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, was raised in Chattanooga and spent carefree summers with his family in Anna Maria Island, Florida. Educated at Baylor School in Chattanooga, he attended college at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. David traveled and studied extensively in: Cairo, Egypt; Heidelberg, Germany; London, England; Patna, India; and Perth, Australia. Thus we see the international influences in his music. He is self-taught on the guitar and was influenced by acoustic, finger-style guitarists. His main guitar for songwriting and performance is the 1977 Maton Messiah built for him in Australia. David is a practicing Audiologist with a keen ear for various musical styles (pun intended). He is married to Cheryl and they continue to live near the Florida beaches he loved as a child.
