2007 is going to be a breakout year for Houston, TX native Denitia Odigie. Odigie, an alternative singer/songwriter recently attended the POP Montreal Festival and was considered âthe find of the fest.â It is easy to see why the critics are raving about Odigie. Her keening, powerful vocals are very distinct in todayâs alternative scene.

One listen to her new EP âGood Causesâ and one can see that Odigieâs vocal ability suits her material perfectly. She can be ethereal and moody on acoustic tracks and emotional on the more abrasive, rock-oriented material. âI have a large vocal range; I tend to be pretty unpredictable.â

Denitia is a self-taught musician who has been playing guitar for over 10 years. She tends to play a lot of dark, crunchy power chords that form the basis of an avant-garde sound. âI write a lot of unconventional pop melodies and I canât escape being autobiographical,âstates Odigie, "But I am moving away from the rock band approach toward a more streamlined sound.â Denitia plans on recording 6 new songs this winter and looks forward to taking her music on the
road. âI love performing live, it is my favorite part of being a musician", stated Odigie. It is where I feel like my true self.â
