Details:
Choppy riffs, blistering solos, and ear-punching vocals define The Downcide, an up and coming heavy metal band from Columbia, SC. Coming onto the scene in February, 2006, after a year in the making, brewing interest and anticipation lead to an unprecedented debut performance, as The Downcide took the stage for the first time ever in front of a near capacity crowd at West Columbiaâs New Brookland Tavernâon a Wednesday night
nonetheless. Local heroes and platinum selling artists, Crossfade also came out to enjoy the show. The Downcide did not stop there. They became an instant headlining act in Columbia, and in less than three months, the group was a Rock 93.5, "Locals Live" competition finalist. Continuing to draw unprecedented interest from local music fans, the band battled their way to the opening slot at "Fallout 2006," where they took the stage in front of thousands with national recording artists Crossfade, Nonpoint, and Decyfer Down.
In a yearâs time, The Downcide had performed to every corner of South Carolina, from Charleston to Rockhill. They have been featured on some of South Carolinaâs best known stages including Columbiaâs Headliners, Spartanburgâs Ground Zero, and Charlestonâs Music Farm. Their success in Columbia has awarded The Downcide syndicated airplay and multiple interviews on Columbiaâs Rock 93.5. They have also been heard on Charlestonâs 98X, and the University of South Carolinaâs 90.5, where they have also been interviewed. In addition to radio play, The Downcide has been featured in Scene-azine Magazine, The Daily Gamecock, The Free Times, and The State Newspaper.
Now one of South Carolinaâs premier local acts, and with the release of their much anticipated, self-titled, debut album, The Downcide has embarked on a mission to take their signature brand of metal all over the southeast with the rest of the country in their sites. Uncompromising and unstoppable, The Downcide will surely be a household name when all is said and done.
