Details:
Max Heinegg has been playing live and making records since 1991 (from NYC to Portland,OR to Chapel Hill, NC) and in Boston, since 1997. Generally it was rock (see The High Ceilings), but in 2004, he began playing his quieter, moodier, and more thoughtful tunes outside the rock context. Maybe it was the birth of his first of two daughters, or maybe it was his embrace of chordal versus riff-oriented music. Maybe it was just David Gray.

2004's By June was critically lauded, and after taking some time to write and record, and pine over These Familiar Days, Max's sophomore effort is ready to greet the world in September of 2007.

This record was made with the help of what seems like a cross-section of the entire Boston music scene. The drums were played by Mike Piehl, a veteran musician who plays with many of the city's best folk musicians. The bass was handled by Jim Gilbert; he played for The Sheila Divine, perhaps the city's greatest alt-rock band other than the Pixies. The sax was played by the brilliant Dana Colley of Morphine, Twinemen, and AKACOD fame. Other contributors include Will Dailey, who is of his own right, a major label artist, currently on CBS records, as well as Jason Dunn of The Luxury, a prominent pop-rock band in Boston. Last, Alex Necochea and Maclaine Diemer, of the buzz band Bang Camaro (which he once sang for), added guitars and keys.

Max's songs are poetic, personal and not confessional; he sings of love and loss - of how the aggregate of the mundane can become more than that. He leaves room for the listener to make up her/his mind; he creates musical and mental space for the listener to luxuriate but also to momentarily sleep - a musical hammock, if you will.
