With the soft and sometimes melancholic, haunting vocals of Verity Pabla, Rudy Gawâs smooth guitar playing and distinctive male vocals juxtaposing with vulnerable lyricism, and the schizophrenic and surreal compositions of Sunim Koria, Hojo has most certainly coined the phrase Spank Jazz.
A mildly confrontational attitude blends with some sweet and playful lyrics. The songs vary in style from one song to the next on this rich and diverse debut album from Hojo. Expect the unexpected from this much-needed quality album that is not your typical band album nor is it for the pop charts.
