Erene, Italian born, moved to New York City in March 2000 when she realized that her songwriting was influenced by American music as much as by Italian contemporary songwriters. Her desire to learn from great American musicians drove her to choose New York City as her new home. Erene felt immediately at ease in the City and started performing right away in cafes of the Lower East Side. The warm and enthusiastic reaction of the audience was a sign that she was in the right place.
Back in Italy she started studying singing, classical guitar and piano at a very young age, as a teenager she also began training as a jazz vocalist. During this time she had the chance to perform with some of the best Jazz musicians in the country. In 1996 she discovered the âFunctional Method of the Voiceâ by Gisela Rohmert. Erene has been studying the method in Germany and Italy ever since.
In 1997 Erene traveled to San Francisco to produce a demo with virtuoso guitarist Peppino DâAgostino, here she also had the chance to meet producer Corrado Rustici. At this time she started developing the idea to one day live in the US.
Erene won the Greenage Festival (national music competition) in Turin, Italy, in 2002 and in that occasion she opened for the world wide known percussionist Trilok Gurtu.
At the beginning of 2006 Erene met Brad Roberts (Crash Test Dummies), they started collaborating right away because of the incredible chemistry between the two. At the moment they continue working on new tunes soon to be recorded.
At the end of last year Erene released her new EP, which is the second recording she put out after her first live album (2003).
The Italian singer and songwriter performs regularly in clubs such as The Living Room, Bitter End, Makor, and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. She also travels to Nashville, TN, and to Austin, TX, several times a year to perform at clubs such as Saxon Pub, Threadgillâs, Cactus Café, and Momoâs. In Austin Erene shared the stage with artists such as Patrice Pike, Trish Murphy and Ginger Leigh. In Texas she also collaborated with producer Merel Bregante (Sarah Pierce). Austin, the so called âcapital of the live musicâ definitely welcomed Erene with love and great enthusiasm as well New York City, people are fascinated by her enchanting voice, solid guitar playing and sophisticated songwriting.
Erene also travels back to Italy to tour throughout the country.
