John Gilbert International jazz pianist and vocalist June Harris has assembled a fine group of musicians, albeit a different ensemble on almost every track. June Harris can rock with the best of them and balladize with much sensitivity and emotion. On the shuffle side "I Want A Good Looking Lover" (an original by Harris) showcases this fine vocalist at her best. The lyrics are cleverly penned and sung with drive and passion. Her pianistic abilities in this rock 'em sock 'em mode drives the tune in fine style. Another rocker is "Everytime I Try To Get Ahead" which swings to the max. Harris seems comfortable in this vein and it is evident in her jaunty vocalization and rampaging piano solo. "My Favorite Things" finds Miss Harris in a different bag. Her piano style is almost neo- classical on this tune and serves notice that this talented artist is well rounded and at home in any musical idiom. The musicians, as noted, are too numerous to mention as they literally change from tune to tune. This, however, does not affect the quality of this fine recording.
