Nicely recorded, tastefully performed Watchin' Trains Go by will be a treat for those who enjoy modern interpretations of traditional material. It is clear that Arkanas vocalist and fiddler Laura Brooke has been inspired by the singers from the Ozarks that have come before her including the Great Almeda Riddle....... Some traditional record label would be wise to add her to their roster soon.

I have been playing guitar and fiddle for about five years and am a regular performer at the Ozarks Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Arkansas. I have been inspired by the songs and music of the Ozarks, that has its roots in the music and ballads of the Scotch - Irish. I love to put myself into each old song, making it my own, presenting it from my own perspective. I also love being part of the preservation of our unique musical heritage and enjoy continuing that tradition by expressing myself concerning my own life experiences and observations in the songs I write.

If you haven't heard Geoffrey Watts on guitar, you will be amazed at this young man's talents. He plays rhythm and lead guitar for me on this project. He is a national thumb-picking champion and has placed second internationally. He adds a variety of ear-pleasing styles ranging from flat picking to blues. Great listening.

Lukas Pool is another talented young musician who joined me on this project playing bluegrass and clawhammer style banjo.

Thanks go to the other veteran musicians who contributed great talent, Albee Tellone, bass and mandolin, Joe Jewell, mandolin and hammered dulcimer with Kay Thomas adding harmony vocals. And also to another young musician, Jed Smith, who played the bohdran on one song. It was a nice touch!
