Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there was a little brown kitten named Little Bear. Little Bear was born in a vacant lot one very windy day in March.
He had six brothers and sisters. Now, his brothers and sisters just slept most of the time but Little Bear was wide-awake. He just couldn't take his eyes off the rustling leaves and the insects flying here and there. He was just so excited to be alive! How could he sleep? One day, when the kittens were old enough Mama Cat left for a while to look for good things to eat. On this particular day there were boys playing ball in the vacant lot and one of them saw Little Bear, just sitting there, looking all around, eyes as big as saucers. He thought Little Bear was the cutest kitten he had ever seen ...
