Marlin Drixan is what happens when a collision of talent explodes and the dust never really settles. The coming together of innovative musicians, led by a forward thinking voice and a kaleidoscope of influences, this is a band that knew no boundaries.

Founded in New York in late 2003, Marlin Drixan was the brainchild of Juilliard trained musician Jeremy Turner. A multi instrumentalist, he sang, played guitar, keyboard, and cello, which ended up being the bandâs cornerstone sound in itâs grip on the subterranean New York City music scene. Abe Seiferth. with his commanding force on lead guitar, wowed audiences and critics alike with his mind boggling effects and improvisational style. The bassist Kevin Smith easily switched from upright to electric and always brought a sense of the unexpected to every live show. A master of percussion, Mike Werner left crowds with their jaws wide open as he played his DW kit with one hand and a glockenspiel with his other.

Experimenting with several different musical paths in the beginning, Marlin Drixan settled into a groove of crafting vivacious and addictive music, composing songs that ranged from the anthemic to the atmospheric. Using various instruments, they created a unique soundscape that quickly became a strong force at venues such as Mercury Lounge, Sin-e, Pianos, Arleneâs Grocery, and Galapagos.

Disbanding shortly after the recording of their first full length album, Marlin Drixan left fans with a bittersweet taste in their mouth, but also with a gem of a record that successfully documented a sound that will not soon be forgotten. The band members have all moved on to new stages of their careers, Turner composing scores for film and television, Seiferth playing in the bands Phonograph and Elliptical Ferns, Smith as a member of The Epochs, and Werner playing percussion in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
