Details:
Dawn Mitschele's voice makes people fall in love. It is what people leaving a live concert of hers will say..."her voice is beautiful...it melted my heart." On her debut EP, Town of Trees, her songs are stylistically diverse, expressing her range for songwriting, from folk to pop, and blues inspired tunes to Americana.
The opening fingerstyle track "Float like a feather" introduces you to the soothing quality of her voice and the delicacy of her lyrics. Producer and guest musician Aaron Bowen adds blues slide guitar to âRedwood Streetâ and shows up with the banjo and slide in the acoustic pop tune âThe Whiskey Song.â The third track, âDominoesâ is also an acoustic pop hit. This song has become Dawnâs anthem, where at live shows youâre likely to hear her dedicated fans singing along. âAt the Stationâ uses accents of Aaron Bowenâs lead acoustic guitar and the jazzy drums of John Ray, and is another tune that tends to play over in your head. The final track, âFar to Go,â is full of melancholic atmosphere, and leaves you with the feeling of wanting to hear more from this passionate songstress.
Dawn Mitschele creates a mood on her first EP that is natural and sincere, and uses beautiful, simple arrangements. Itâs a casual album that makes big impact with the honesty of her lyrics, her unassuming singing style and the rich, complex tones of her voice.
Always singing and writing since childhood, Dawn naturally progressed into a singer/songwriter during her college years in NYC, though she mostly played for herself and friends. It was in San Diego in late 2005 that, upon the discovery of Twiggâs Green Room, she decided to share her songs with a wider audience. Since that time she has opened for successful local performers such as Bushwalla, Carlos Olmeda and Jason Mraz (when he's home and performing in small venues). She is currently performing all around San Diego and is planning a California Coastal tour in November '07 (including a stop in Las Vegas).
