Details:
Ghosts and Spirits is a project that began as the next album for Phil Woodward's former band, Phileas Fogg, but was finished as Phil's first solo album. The album reflects a wide range of influences--from Bach to Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens to Sigur Ros, Nickel Creek to U2. The album features a collection of songs inspired by "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis. In this classic text, Lewis, perhaps the finest crafter of English prose in the 20th century, provides a fanciful first-person account of a journey through heaven and hell, a la Dante's Divine Comedy. There are many good reasons to eschew religious devotion. This book is all about the bad reasons.
Musicians:
Phil Woodward - rhythm guitars, vocals
Myron Marston - lead guitars, string arrangements
Mark Noguchi - bass
Bobby Jacky - keyboard, accordian
Chris Kennedy - drums
Lacey Brown - drums, percussion, vibraphone, background vocals
Tony Rivera - bass
Marylin Marsh - pipe organ
Gwen Owen - bass, background vocals
George Scranton - spoken word
Kristian Swearingen - violin
J.J. Lang - violin
Rosemary Townsend - violin
Lisa Kallberg - viola
Phil Peterson - cello
