Austin City Limits meets Bob Dylan

13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, COUNTRY: Alt-Country

Details:
Born and raised in Houston Texas. Started playing guitar in a 70âs rock band, ccr, grand fund, rolling stones, classic rock as we now know it. My early musical influences; Beatles cartoons and Elvis Presley movies. I love writing songs, stories about my family, my experiences, people iâve met, things iâve done and have not done, things that are Texas, beer, bar-b-qâs , fast cars and a lot of stuff i just make up along the way. Iâve always appreciated the singer-songwriter for the sacrifices and contributions they make to bring us these personal stories. Personally im not much of a vocalists, donât play the guitar that well, not much on bragging either, but if i do have a strong suit it would be songwriting. The rock band got me out of high school, but like millions of other bands it finally bit the dust. But the taste of playing music is one iâve never forgotten. I finally got out of college and landed a job, got married, bought a house, had a daughter and put music on hold for about 15 years. In 1997 i started getting the itch again, started writing songs and playing the guitar more and more. Then i met this dude named saylor white. Saylor , an accomplished, veteran musician well known as one of the best songwriters in the houston area took a genuine interests in my songs, took me to my first open mic and recorded my first song in his living room, written for my daughters tenth birthday. He would continue to be a major influence in my musical career. In 1998 i started a little 3 piece texas folk rock band called âthe noise upstairsâ and for about 5 years we entertained houston with our original music, hailed as somewhere between austin city limits and bob dylan. We recorded 5 cdâs, 2 live and 3 in house, nothing professional, just wanted to preserve a little bit of our history. In december 2003 the noise drew its last breath. That band taught me a lot about what it takes to be a success in the music business and what it takes to make good music. It is one of the few professions where the players work for nothing and love doing it. In march 2003 i entered âa songwriters studioâ in houston, texas, owned and operated by saylor white and kpft, 90. 1 fm radio dj chris collins. My intentions were to record some of my acoustic songs, but that gradually turned into one goliath project involving some of houstonâs finest musicians. In august 2007 i picked up the final product, 3 years and five months, from the highest mountains to the bottom of the deep blue sea, we went there and back again, its one of the best journeys iâve ever been on. This cd has some really creative and emotional guitar work by 25 year old rocker kenyon white. Some very soulful piano by david brake. Some of the best fiddle playing this side of nashville by jeff duncan. And the best rhythm section in town, rick richards on drums and jack saunders on bass. And what about all the harmonies, each of these artists is an accomplished singer-songwriter on their own, mauri cowen, mark beets, chelsea miller and chris collins. And thereâs otis futhermucker on harmonica, with a name like that you got to be good. And last but not least my old buddy on guitar, saylor white. I never dreamed i would be a part of such a fine recording. Im extremely proud of what we have accomplished and very fortunate to have worked with musicians of such celebrity. This cd rocks, it gets country and it turns a little blue, itâs got some gospel a pinch of bakersfield and some texas swing, thereâs even one acoustic song. Thatâs all i got for now, you can find me at rbfrisco@peoplepc. Com or at one of the many open mics here in houston polishing up some new songs for the next journey.
