Details:
Serafina is a mid-coast Maine band. Leah Rainy,of Lincolnville is the band's vocalist, and songwriter. The band features local jazz luminary Bruce Boege of Northport on Saxophone, nylon string guitar, and ukulele. Eric Davis of Owl's Head plays acoustic bass, and Jeff Densmore of Waldo handles percussion.
The band plays only original material. Leah has been writing songs since she was 13. Their sound is an amalgam of jazz, blues, and bossa-nova, with a little country thrown in for good measure. Audience response has been enthusiastic for their warm, emotional sound.
Serafina has performed in mid-coast Maine at such venues as The Strand, as an opening act for Gordon Bok, as well as local festivals such as Belfast Summer Nights. Besides Serafina's group appearances, Leah has played The Bay Saint Lawrence Folk Festival on Cape Breton Island, and countless jams on Martha's Vine yard with Al Shackman, Danny Kortchmeyer, Kate Taylor, and Carley Simon
After hearing the group, local folk singer Gordon Bok said, "It's cool, it's flowing, inquisitive and kind. These songs take me to some very real-feeling places that I've never been to and wouldn't imagine on my own."

Gordon Bok
"We love your c.d!"
Brian and Rosi Amador (Sol Y Canto)
"The music is soothing, just gorgeous, interesting and hopeful. Your vocals hold me and take me to so many different places in myself.... I haven't heard a women's voice that interested me as much as yours, with all of its suprising turns, in a long while. If the the taste and aesthetics you exhibit in these songs is any indication of the other collaborations which you have taken on together in this life, I imagine you have built a thing or two of beauty."
Lisa Millimet (filmmaker)
"If the sledgehammer assault of today's rock and roll is leaving your ears bruised and raw, (Serafina) will prove a soothing remedy...The same care that a mother would apply to singing her daughter to sleep has been put into the music." Julian Wise (The Martha's Vineyard Times)
