At the core of the band are brothers Judah and Benjamin Kim who were born and raised outside philly. In 2003, Judah moved out to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Music Production and Engineering. After 6 months, Ben soon followed Judah out west and they formed Stone Thrown with 3 other members. After roughly two years of playing in LA, the brothers Kim decided that it was time to move back to philly because the music scene was starting to rub them the wrong way. They felt that there were a lot of musicians out there, but not enough opportunity and support. Also, their loyal east coast following was demanding they come home to play shows ever since their first release, the Lava Ep in 2005. In July of 06, Judah and Ben moved back to the east coast. At that time, the other guys in the group decided to stay behind to pursue other personal ventures/musical projects.

It was definitely a challenge "starting over" with new members, but the two brothers saw it as an opportunity to develop their sound in a fresh direction. When they returned they started rehearsals almost immediately. On Drums and percussion, they recruited long time friend and drummer of Grimace Federation, Jon Wood. Jon was in the studio the day they were talking to him about joining the band. The studio belonged to an old friend of his named Chris Wolf who overheard the conversation. Wolf, who had heard our music online, had asked if they were looking for a guitarist, and as fate would have it... they were.

Since their return they have played a number of successful live shows and have become one of "Tuned into ABC"'s favorite artists. Stone Thrown has played the Trocadero, the World Cafe Live, the grape street pub, the general lafayette, SPAMPS, the northstar, Tex Mex, Fergies, the Khyber to name a few.
