Annie Crane hails from Rochester, NY where she grew up on her motherâs Paul Simon records and Canadian/Irish folk, her grandmotherâs Italian operas, and her fatherâs interest in all things new and techy. At 13, beginning to be noticed as a girl with a voice, she was already developing a special affinity for classic 60âs Folk. She received classical vocal training at Eastman School of Music, but while studying at The University of Toronto, she turned her prodigious talents toward her first love, folk music. She has been compared to the likes of Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, and Gillian Welch. As one enthusiastic fan put it, âShe looks across the audience like sheâs looking deep into a distant decadeâ. Now based in NYC, Annie has played at The Sidewalk Café, Bar Matchless, Bar 4, Googieâs Lounge ,The Bitter End with the NY Singer Songwriter Sessions, Laila Lounge with the Jezebel Music Songwriter Showcase and Freddyâs Back Room with the Troubadour Revue.
