IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT NASHVILLE

âCalifornia Country' - When you first hear those words some people might think they don't go together. A lot of folks think that country means Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Austin, Baton Rouge or a lot of other places in the South. It does! But Country also means places like Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Fresno, Richmond, and even San Francisco cause Country is anywhere people feel pain, loss, happiness, family, love, guilt, weakness, or strength. No matter where we are, Country just expresses itself through music that talks about all those things, and a lot more, in the language of common folks. This CD is a compilation of songs, sung by session musicians, that have been written by A. Richard Wood, Tulsa born, but California bred and shows a little slice of California Country. A number of the songs were inspired by events that have actually happened in real life.

1. "Neon Lights & Summertime Nights" For all those young men, and some who aren't so young, who work all week for a hard day's pay, what happens when that work is done? This song tells you what one young fella's gonna do.

2. "A Jack D Epiphany" He's sittin at the bar, once again, with his best friend, Jack D, after havin more than three, when he realizes, in an instant, that Jack ain't such a great friend and from now on it's just his woman and him.

3. "Intelligent Life" Hold on there, cowboy. You may think you're the greatest thing since popcorn but things ain't gonna be like you'd want them to be. She's searchin for some intelligent life, for a change. Can you measure up?

4. "Love In The First Degree" She's on his mind when he wakes up in the mornin and she's all he thinks about the whole damn day. He's definitely got Love In The First Degree.

5. "Love's Just A Phone Call Away" He know that she's been out there on her own for six long months. But if she ever realizes that the only reason she left was fear, Love's Just A Phone Call Away.

6. "Nobody Like You" He could search the mountains high or look from here to Timbuktu but he's knows he'd never find another her.

7. "If You Only Knew" If she only knew how he really felt, she could look in his eyes, right through his disguise, and see his love. If she only knew.

8. "Daddy Please Don't Go" If you're a little girl about 8, the word divorce doesn't mean much to you. But you definitely know if your daddy doesn't live with you anymore. Can she somehow make him understand that her momma still loves him and she'll try to make things right?

9. "California Country" She was travelin all the way across the country to meet her husband who was stationed at Camp Lejuene. Why on earth would the waitress, in a little cafe outside of Nashville, think that she wasn't Country? One thing's for sure; the waitress is gonna know why she's California Country.

10. "My Mascara Ain't Runnin No More" For all you ladies who have sat home patiently, night after night, while that hard drinkin, fun lovin husband or boyfriend and his 'no good buddies' leaves you sittin home alone one time too many. All those nights, and all those tears led to lots of mascara runnin all over the place. It ain't runnin no more, though.

11. "My Baby Went To Heaven" This song tells the true story of a young man of 25, just starting his life really, who falls into the same trap as many a cowboy who had a "few too many", and then got in his pickup truck and headed on down the road. The only problem was he had his 5 year old son with him.
