Power pop punk.
6 MP3 Songs
POP: Pop/Rock, ROCK: Punk-Pop
Details:
This is the original first EP released by Atomsplit in 1997. The songs were fast, punky, and raw and some of the most exciting to come out of the late 90's Atlanta music scene.
The lead off track "Millisent" is an in your face driving song about a fictional love affair with the Dark Queen of Snow White. Thie song won a 1996 Georgia Songwriters Association award for Best Rock Song.
The second track, "SO OVER YOU" would become Atomsplit's most popular song and an encore at 90 of gigs. The short diddy is full of power punky pop angst and speaks to the end of the band (the Inklings) that Atomsplit's frontman and drummer came from. The song appeared on Athen's based Ghost Meat Records compilation "All About Numbers" in 1998 and also won Best Rock Song in the Georgia Music Industry Assocation's 1998 competition. Be sure to also check out the indie made video clip for SO OVER YOU - just do a YouTube search for it.
Track three, "Love Triangular" also would become a crowd pleaser of the early days of the band. This track was featured on Shuteye Records "Brand New Buzz" compilation CD in 1998.
The EP is rounded out by the cuts "Quicksand", "Genius" and "Why Ask Why" - all fun and entertaining songs in their own rights.
