Thank you for listening to Second Chance!

Proceeds from every download or CD purchase of Second Chance go directly to benefit Camp Michitanki (name derived from "Michigan Transplant Kids"). Camp Michitanki welcomes children who have received solid organ transplants at any hospital. When you buy your copy of this song, you help a transplant recipient child to have a summer camp experience. The camp is a special project of the University of Michigan Transplant Center and runs completely on private and corporate donations, fundraising events, and sales of the Second Chance downloads and CD.

Please share this song with your friends and contacts, and let them know that if they love the song like so many people do, they can get their own copy here and help kids at the same time. People whose lives are not affected by donation and transplantation will hear the message loud and clear that organ donors restore and save lives, and that transplant recipients are eternally grateful.

About Camp Michitanki

Camp Michitanki (Michigan Transplant Kids) is a summer camp created by the University of Michigan Transplant Center to provide an exciting camping experience for children 8-16 years of age who have had an organ transplant. Campers spend six days in August participating in a variety of activities and have the opportunity to interact with other organ transplant recipients in a non-medical setting. Transplant nurses, physicians, social workers and other community volunteers work with YMCA staff to provide a "normal" and medically supervised camping experience. Children are divided by age and gender and assigned into cabin groups for the week. Camp Michitanki is held at a 100-year old YMCA camp located in scenic Oscoda Michigan on the shores of Lake Van Ettan.

We believe that every child who has had an organ transplant should be able to have a camping experience. Children who have been very sick and have survived because they received a heart, liver, small bowel or kidney transplant have obstacles that are different than those of other kids. We believe that transplant recipient kids should be exposed to an environment that allows participation in every activity, fosters relationships with kids who have overcome similar medical hurdles, and encourages personal growth through supervised physical and social challenges.

Introducing Hunter Brucks

Hunter Brucks is a singer and songwriter from the tiny town of Maybee in southeast Michigan. In 2006 Mr. Brucks learned about Camp Michitanki, the University of Michigan's summer camp for children who have received organ transplants. He was so moved by the gratitude of transplant kids and the generosity of organ donation that he stayed up all night long writing a truly inspired song entitled "Second Chance." It is such an incredible message of thanks and hope, that it has captured the attention of everyone who has heard it.

In August of 2007, "Second Chance" was released to the public in cooperation with a dozen national and international organizations. See our web site (www.michigantransplant.org) for a complete list of partners. As a result, donor families, transplant recipients, and transplant professionals around the globe will soon be hearing this song. With some luck, it will also reach the general public through mass media, and many millions more people will hear its wonderful message, thanking organ donors for giving others a second chance at life.
