Chad Marvin was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to David and Grace Marvin. He was a typical boy, active with his friends, his family's activities and playing drums. But in not-so-typical fashion, he was in and out of hospitals several times before the age of 5 not expected to come home. However, after several miracles, God did bring him into good health. He wrote his first song at the age of 6. At the age of 7, he made a decision to give his life to Christ and after that, dreamed of becoming a writer.

His musical influences throughout the next several years included Keith Green, Amy Grant and Michael Card. From 1986 to the present He has recorded several projects that have taken him to Nashville, across the U.S. and into Europe. His overseas stops have included Romania, Denmark, Holland and Iceland. His most recent project "Far Side Of The World" was inspired by some of those visits. In a recent interview he talks about his inspiration:

"One day as I was studying in my office my eye caught the mandolin hanging on the wall. I purchased it in Romania several months back on a tour there. The band had made some wonderful friends on that trip and I realized that I hadn't spoken to these friends since we left. Lots of great memories came flooding back and I just had to pick up the phone. I dialed and Otniel answered. 'Halo?' he said. 'Otniel, this is Chad'. Our conversation began as if we had never left off. We talked about how we met and what good times we had. We talked about the team and talked about the places we played at. We remembered the laughter and the tears too and how God blessed on our journeys. After our conversation it seemed to me that the time we spent together was very much like a song. Otniel and his wife Dana and the band all wrote this song together and we were able to touch eachother through our music...and so Far Side Of The World was born".

But Chad describes Far Side as more than just a project stemming from collaboration and distance. It's really about filling up our lives with so many things that we forget. And by the time we remember, closest friends or family or both who might be just across the street seem like they're worlds apart. It can be like that with God too. That's where his recent project hits home. Chad believes that God is not on the Far Side Of The World. No matter how much space we've put between Him and us, heaven is only a prayer away. "Like that phone call to Otniel", he explains, "God says hello without hesitation and strikes up the conversation as if we had never left off". It's Chad's desire that the time he spends with His audience reminds them of that. It's his hope that the music will reconnect them with those they haven't talked to in awhile and reconnect them with God as well, remembering who He is, what He's done in their lives and what He will do. "I believe there are people out there with huge holes in their hearts and even though they desperately want to have a relationship with God, they're not sure He would welcome it for one reason or another". Chad's message is clear. "God stands waiting for you with open arms. No matter where you've been or what you've done; Go to him as you are. It's a local call".

In 2005 Chad began writing with Universal Nashville. In 2007 He announced the formulation of His new Record and Publishing Company True North Music Group, Inc. and released Far Side Of The World under that label.

He continues to record and do concerts in the US and around the world. When he's not on the road or writing in Nashville, Chad plays in coffee houses and various venues in and around the Boise area.
