Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Curtis' musical style follows the singer/songwriter tradition of James Taylor and Don Mclean, yet also draws upon many others ranging from Hawaiian music to bossa nova to the Beatles to Motown soul. He began playing semi-professionally at seventeen, in an acoustic blues duo named "the starving musicians". Several months later he landed his first solo gig at a small coffee shop outside of Waikiki.
After earning a degree in music and theater from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, Curtis moved to San Francisco, California to release his independently produced debut CD entitled "You Can Close Your Eyes", which includes several Curtis Kamiya originals.
An intimate and compelling performer, Curtis has been charming audiences for 10 years. After gigging extensively in the bay area in support of his cd, Curtis has recently moved back to the Puget Sound area. Today, you can find him performing in and around Seattle.
